Where to Meet Expats
This is the most common question we get yet you will meet them very easily.
Assuming you do not plan to live in the boonies ask around for the local blogs, newsletters or just the people in the know. They exist in every community and you can usually Google for them on the Internet. There are several forums that might help you in your search such as:
www.nicaliving.com
www.therealnicaragua.com
www.gotonicaragua.com
www.expatexchange.com
Be forewarned - you will meet some real weirdos on the forums and FaceBook pages.
In Granada there are so many places you will meet other expats but some of the top places include:
Garden Cafe
Hotel Casa San Francisco
Kathy's Waffle House
Margarita Bar and Grill
Euro Cafe
Garage Restaurant
Anywhere on Calle Calzada
Be careful, until you get your Nicaraguan legs do not take any advice from even an expat until you meet several expats. Everybody wants to sell you real estate. One of the stranger discoveries we made here was that the expats that have been here for 20 years do not seem to know anything more than an expat that has been here for six months.
