Rotary club membership is by invitation and club members must hold or be retired from a professional, proprietary, executive, or managerial position and live or work within the locality of the club or surrounding areas.

- a health clinic (built by Rotary) in one of the most underserved sections of the city
- a program to dig wells and provide clean drinking water throughout the departmento
- libraries at multiple public schools
- a multifaceted effort to reduce waste and pollution in and around Lake Nicaragua
