La Calzada Centro de Arte is where you can discover or rediscover the artist in you or improve your skills by working with other artists.
We are located one block from the Central Park on Calzada behind the Ole Boutique and Furniture Shop. Open studio and classes are provided to all levels of students and artists. You can paint in oil, water color or acrylics to create that unique piece.

Background
The Centro de Arte Studio is a place designed for the casual artist and the serious artist as well. Based on a concept studio that Amy attended while living in the Carolinas, the studio offers a beautiful space to hone your craft. Most days of operation have Open Studio time in the mornings whereby the artist can come to paint, draw or otherwise engage themselves with like minded individuals. If instruction is needed then the student can get guidance from Amy Bushnell in the area of their interest.
The studio provides all materials necessary to complete a painting. Classes range from 100 cordobas for a three hour session. The paint, brushes, mediums and the like are provided. The student needs to purchase the canvases which very greatly in size and structure and are priced separately. Watercolor, acrylic and oil are the preferred mediums of painting. There is also available, charcoal, colored pencil, watercolor pencil, crayons, oil stick, ink, etc., from which to choose.
The Calzada Centro de Arte has been in operation in the current location for one year and previously was located in Amy’s home where it operated for a year as well. The students come in all sizes, ages and locales. Many of the people who attend the studio are people living in Granada or Managua and close by. However, many visiting people enjoy time in the studio as well. Granada hosts a multitude of volunteers who stay for months at a time. The studio offers diversion from the workday and they have a unique souvenir when they leave.
Saturday mornings are devoted to classes for children. The ages range from 5 years old up to 12 years in the morning and the afternoon sessions are for teens and adults. You can see some of the paintings by Amy and the various artists in the gallery elsewhere on this website.
